Relational psychotherapy

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy

What it is

Relational psychotherapy takes the view that people are formed in relationship and are best helped in one. Rather than the therapist standing outside as an expert, the connection between the two of you is treated as the main instrument of the work.

In practice it means paying attention to what happens between you and the therapist, including misunderstandings and repairs, as a live example of how relating goes elsewhere in your life.

Practitioners working this way

One practitioner records psychoanalytic psychotherapy as their primary approach. The list covers both our practices — the practice is named under each name, and Pimlico profiles open on the Pimlico site. Pimlico’s records have not been scanned yet, so the Pimlico row is an example of the treatment rather than a real listing.
