Emma Myrtle

BACP Registered Psychotherapist

About Me

I am a Integrative therapist offering open-ended, long-term Psychotherapy , as well as time-limited, short-term Counselling. In my practice I combine a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques to fit the needs of each individual client. My style is reflective, gentle and honest, in a way that is always supportive and challenging where appropriate. This can open up a space of trust for clients to explore what they are experiencing more fully which promotes healing at all levels (mental, physical and emotional). I believe with the right support, everyone has the opportunity to heal and lead a happy, fulfilled life so I want to support you to find a way to do that.
As well as talking therapy we might explore mind-body exercises such as mindfulness, relaxation and breathing exercises, or movement such as TRE and bioenergetics. Our minds can affect how healthy our bodies are, so by focusing on the mind-body connection, you will become more aware of suppressed or unexpressed emotions, and therefore more at ease with things that previously felt challenging or uncomfortable.

By working both in the here-and-now as well as reflecting on the past, we’ll gain insights into old patterns which may be causing current negative thought patterns, behaviours and distresses. This enables you to become more in tune with your authentic self and to find your own way forward to emotional well-being, good mental and physical health.

.If you would like to know more before you book a session I offer a twenty-minute free consultation so I can get an insight into why you are seeking therapy and to answer any questions you may have. You can contact me by email, text or phone. Our first session will be a 60-minute informal assessment and an opportunity to start to connect and explore how best we can work together. Thereafter, all sessions will last for 50 minutes and are usually on a weekly basis.

Issues that therapy can help with:
• Depression and anxiety
• Emotional disturbance (e.g. unable to process grief, express anger, blocked emotions)
• Stress or living with health problems (e.g. burn out, ME, fibromyalgia, back pain, menopause symptoms)
• Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
• Relationships (e.g. communication problems, people pleasing, jealousy, relationship breakdown, sexual issues, affairs and betrayals, and family issues)
• Trauma (physical, emotional and sexual), one-off traumatic events such as an accident, or long-standing over time such as an abusive relationship
• Anger (e.g. losing your temper quickly, arguing with people around you, having a lack of anger or having trouble expressing it)
• Existential problems (e.g. lack of meaning in life, mid-life crisis, lack of motivation, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, trapped or uncertain)
• Expanding awareness (i.e. becoming more aware of your purpose, beliefs and emotional reality)
