Thank you for clicking on my profile. I’m guessing that if you’re looking for a therapist you’re feeling pretty low right now. You may be having intermittent spells of anxiety and depression. You may be feeling emotionally fragile despite being outwardly self-confident. Perhaps you feel you’re not the person you once were. You may be snapping at the people you love and feeling angry and resentful. Or you may be stuck in a job you hate, struggling to find work, or facing health challenges that have hit you out of the blue.
Therapy offers a gentle, uniquely confidential space to talk about such things and gradually work through the obstacles, behaviours and thought patterns that are holding you back in life. Together we can work out the choices that you have. What are the relationships that energise you? What are the activities, people or experiences that bring you joy? What are the things that give your life purpose and meaning? Together we would look at these and work out where change can happen and how to set it in motion.
I work at Kensington Counselling Rooms on a Thursday between 8am and 3pm. My work is integrative, meaning I draw on different therapy models, in particular person-centred therapy (for its optimism and focus on psychological growth), CBT (for its helpful insights on thought processes) and psychodynamic therapy (for its links between childhood experiences and adult development). My practice is also enriched by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This offers a more dynamic, forward-focused approach than traditional talking therapy.
I share Freud’s view that love and work are crucial to happiness. I also believe that there’s a place for humour in therapy and that laughter can be a vital tool, even in our darkest moments.
I offer a free half-hour consultation on Zoom for all prospective clients. More information about this, as well as details of my fees, can be found on my website.
I have an MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from Roehampton University (2020). This is a second career for me after many years working in the media.
