Play therapy is therapy for children conducted in the medium children actually use. Rather than being asked to explain feelings in words they may not have, a child plays, and the therapist works with what emerges.
Sessions are held in a room set up for it, usually weekly and at the same time. Parents or carers are normally involved in review, though what happens in the room is treated with the same care over confidentiality as adult work.
