Robin Robinson

UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist

About Me

I am a relational Transactional Analysis (TA) counsellor and psychotherapist accredited by the UKCP.

As part of my specialist training, I am also a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) this means I am a full clinical member registered with the European Association for Transactional Analysis (EATA) and the International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis (IARTA).

I am also 'Visiting Tutor' and examiner for the TA Department at Metanoia Institute in the UK, offering supervision and teaching of TA, as a PTSTA (P) endorsed by EATA, empowering groups of TA students to flourish in their postgraduate studies and final TA psychotherapy exams.

As a counsellor and psychotherapist I work with individuals to make sense of any trauma and loss, and other adverse life events which can cause a sense of disempowerment, stuckness, oppression and loneliness. Sometimes individuals can feel significantly disconnected from themselves, from relationships, at work, in society and amongst communities. I am dedicated to working with my clients to help them re-connect to themselves, to others, and to live life with a sense of self-belief, belonging, and meaning.

At the heart of my work lies the use of the 'relational' dynamics and transactional analysis i.e. the 'relationship' and narratives both verbal and non-verbal that emerge between myself and my clients - when this dynamic is bought into awareness, unhelpful behaviour and relationship patterns can be transformed.

How do I work?

Life can be challenging and difficult and transformations can happen.

Perhaps you’ve suffered from a bereavement, a betrayal, or the ending of a relationship? Do you feel stuck following a traumatic event, or disappointment, perhaps a redundancy, or from feeling disempowered in your current role at work? Are you feeling anxious, angry, sad or overwhelmed?

When things become too much many people turn to therapy for a confidential and unbiased view.

I believe in working with my clients using different approaches integrated to suit the individual. This holistic approach has proven to be effective in helping my clients to come to terms with the past. I often help move my clients through ‘blocks’ and traumas and to feel more grounded, spontaneous, and empowered.

Using Relational Transactional Analysis skills to analyse my client's 'narratives', as well as mindfulness skills, body awareness, and human potential coaching, I have helped my clients generate self-acceptance and self-power, whilst transforming their quality of life, work, and relationships.

What are my areas of expertise?

In terms of expertise, I have dealt with bereavement, complex grief, depression, anger, anxiety, overwhelm, low self-esteem, hormonal issues and fertility, sex and sexuality, workplace issues and career transitions. I have extensive experience of working with major depressive disorder, complex PTSTD / post traumatic stress and various trauma syndromes, and panic attacks.

How long are sessions?

Whatever the particular issue is, I offer a free initial 20 minute phone call where you can discuss your challenges with me and see if I can help you. I will then offer you a 50 minute appointment where we can go over things together to decide if working with each other is right.

Who do I work with?

I offer individuals, couples, supervisees, and groups short-term (six -12 weeks) and long-term (open-ended) counselling and psychotherapy sessions, in person or via an encrypted Zoom or video-call. Together, we can work at a pace that suits you, to help feel good about yourself and thriving in your life.

If there’s something you’d like to ask me in confidence, or discuss with me today, email me or call on 07983 248 558.

If you are a supervisee and are interested in TA supervision, I offer this too so please contact me to ask more about this.
