About Me

I am a dance movement psychotherapist of seven years experience. Before retraining in psychotherapy, I worked for over twenty years as a languages teacher. I am fascinated by languages, both their richness and their restrictions. In London, I live and work in a multi-lingual community, and I have lived and worked in France, Germany and China and I understand both the joys and the challenges of living in a different cultural community.

Moving and dancing are important to me - when I move I notice that I can think and feel differently, about myself and the world I inhabit, and the relationships I hold.

In my practice it is my aim always to ‘walk with you’ on your journey of exploration, by developing a trusting therapeutic relationship with you that allows you to feel seen, heard and held.
I work with a humanist, feminist therapy lens, meaning that I try to remain curious about how gender, ethnicity, sexuality, class, wealth and health, influence our sense of personal agency and power. I try to to draw attention to where this may be impacting on your quality of life.

I am fascinated by the wisdom of the body, by how emotions, both joyful and sad, are held within us. By how movement helps shape how we think and feel. Different ways of moving can have a positive impact on how we relate to ourselves and others.

If you feel too caught up by the constant ‘chatter’ in your head, that you are perhaps losing sight of who you are or what your purpose is, dance movement psychotherapy can help you come back to your body and restore your sense of self.

Initial consultation

After our initial email contact, I offer an initial session for you to come and try out whether dmp feels right for you and to see if we we could work together. If you are happy to continue , we would agree a further set of perhaps 6 sessions, to start our work together. You always have the opportunity to review how things are going, and to withdraw at any time.

Who I work with.

All are welcome, and everyone can benefit from dmp, whether or not you have ever moved or danced before. I welcome enquiries from those or who live with people with long term mental health conditions; teachers and professionals working in educational establishments, and carers. I am experienced in supporting those who live with long term mental health conditions, and who may have had long periods of hospitalisation. I also welcome therapy students and trainees, to whom I offer reduced rates according to circumstances.

Training and Qualification

MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, University of Roehampton.
Licensed to practice by the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK (ADMP UK).
I also have full DBS clearance, and I am trained in First Aid.
I am insured with the Psychologists Protection Society.
