BACP Registered Counsellor

About Me

I am Dr. Cindy M. George, a Marriage and Family Therapist; and Licensed Mental Health Counsellor. For the past twenty three years, I have used my counselling skills, knowledge and training to help persons improve their mental health and overall quality of life. Throughout my career, I have maintained my passion for helping others, and prior to relocating to London, I have lived and practiced in the United States of America, The Cayman Islands, and the British Virgin Islands.
I have worked in various settings, including but not limited to private practice, psychiatric hos-pital, community agencies, and the school setting. As a Senior Therapist, I have supervised and trained counsellors. In my desire to educate persons on mental health and wellness, I conduct workshops and public speaking engagements aimed at creating awareness of, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

APPROACH

My approach is integrative, promoting collaboration between the therapist and client. I com-bine both modern and post-modern theories. For example, given specific concerns, I would use Solution Focused Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy, or Psychodynamic Therapy and Nar-rative Therapy. Additionally, from a holistic perspective, I incorporate the components of Wellness as a supplement to treatment; these include mind-body-spirit. Treatment is tailored to the individual needs of the client.
I believe that self-awareness allows for self-acceptance, and these empowers us to be the best that we can be; living our best life. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I identify for my cli-ents the necessary tools to explore, build, and maintain successful relationships. Our interac-tions with others influences who we are, and through therapy, we can learn to be our true and authentic selfs, whilst engaging in meaningful and satisfying relationships.
